There Is Something Very Damaged About You The ghoul arched his body, brown hues melding into the shadow gripping his soul so tightly. Inky blackness painted across his front, the thing seemed to simply meld into the shadows. The ice chips suspended in the facial mask were the only essence of light, and they themselves seemed frozen with blankness. His form melded into something real as he moved, the motion catching the hairs and lifting them away from his body with the light twist of muscle. Not a specter then, a creature shifting through the shadows in silence. Stone carved away at his form, sending shadows across his already shaded body.
The motion at his side was viewable only to him, the true specter a ghost of warm smiles. The brown boy glanced at her, as if checking her progress. He would not allow her to leave to far off. The girl skipped away, sniffing at this and that her cloying half visible form vanishing before slipping back into his view. his control was so shaky still, no matter how hard he fought. Chips of blue narrowed, the castle walls constricting at the edges of vision so he may catch her form again. The gray wolf, her lavender eyes reaching up to meat his, a warm mewl on her lips.
Paradox sighed with relief, glad to have drug the creature back to him. Even from the dead she came to him. Claws clacking hard against the rough stone floor the man found little fear leaking in now that the woman had come to her full light once again at his side. He was ready this time when the trickle of his unknown gift flickered away from him, steel teeth clamped around the trailing end of power. The half visible shape at his side stiffened in shock, head flailing. With a bite of a fury the power was released, and the woman vanished crept back to her invisible hold.
Accustom to having his possession leave him the man gave little other then an annoyed shudder at her disappearance. He could speak with her, but if she wished to leave he could not stop her. She had never wished to abandon him when she was alive. Paradox lifted his head to glance about, eyes crude and ruthless. The dead had better things to play at then a murderer who simply added to their ranks. And still that resentment it rolled over his tongue. How dare she just vanish. After everything he did for her. Arrogance met resentment and their taste of bile violated his tongue as he turned once again towards the deeper innards of man's hold.
Clicking his tongue, an outward admittance of his annoyance Paradox lifted his body fully. He was not the strongest of animals, but even now his mind searched every crevice. So many possible hiding places, and just as many escape roots. The protector turned in a slow circle, tail lifted in half-willed dominance. Frankly he was too close to martyr land, not that that worried him at all. It caused problems. Annoying boring pack related problems. Sighing, once again annoyed despite himself the man sat down with a thing. Petulance written all over his face Paradox looked around himself, ears flicking. This was such an odd place; raised by the mighty hands of kings. It held the oddest brutal power.

“You’re an odd one, aren’t you?”
The remark was remote, and for all intents and purposes, she could’ve been remarking about the weather, or the temperature. The words were detached, as if she could’ve cared less of their answer, her curiosity hidden deep inside her. She wasn’t one to show her emotions, no matter how curious she was. Her dark eyes never wavered from the male, the only other creature here, that she could ascertain anyway. And she knew instinctively that this male was not one to trifle with.
Resentment and annoyance billowed off of him like some sick and twisted cloud. It’s strength made her feel ill, and it was all she could do to keep from baring her teeth. Her empathy, the ability to feel others emotions, came in handy sometimes. She was a good leader because of her ability to know what her pack was feeling and, in turn, explain what she meant by them. But it was a times like these where she wished she didn’t have the magic, the elusive power that haunted her every step of her life.
Nalia hadn’t expected to see anyone here. These ruins were both a haven and a prison for her, a place that called her back again and again. This place was usually deserted - not many wolves risked coming here. There was a certain brute dangerousness to this place that warned most wolves away. Maybe she was stupid. Maybe she was stubborn. But Nalia feared this place, and what she feared, she forced herself to face. She hated what she feared, and hatred always led to bad things.
Star Wars had gotten that right, at least.
Nalia had watched the male for a long moment before speaking. She was seated sedately on a piece of rubble she had claimed her own. Her tail was curled around her paws, and she looked quiet regal. She supposed it came with being Alphess, but it wasn’t something she bragged about. Her blue eyes assessed the brute below, emotions not visible on her maw. Gracefully the Alphess leaped from her perch, coming to a halt a couple of feet before him. Everything about him screamed danger, and she was wary.
But if he posed a threat to her pack, well, so be it. Nalia hated fighting. Arguing was different - she loved a good argument. But fighting caused damage, both physical and emotional. And she already had to bear the burden of others emotions - pain and anger was the worse. Those emotions were like weights on her shoulders, dragging her down. So if he was a threat, she’d eliminate him. Or do her damn hardest to do so.

There Is Something Very Damaged About You He turned without much fear, eyes brushing with weak curiosity across the others form. The man gave a cruel smirk before turning completely to meet the woman's words. "Of course." Paradox was not one to lie about his personal lack of sanity. Odd one, that was a good description. Black muzzle tipped in a slight greeting to the obviously higher ranked animal the boy shifted into a sitting position. Feeling no real need to pay attention to the broad, the protector rocked backwards, peering around at his surroundings.
Brute power was a feature he could appreciate, being it a thing he lacked. Greed was a kindling in everyone's heart after all. Winter blue eyes skipped back to the girl, narrowing with curiosity. She may hide her own but he wanted details. Answers. Things he could manipulate. Emotions shifting towards intended curiosity the spirit walker settled into a more comfortable position. "But I for one am not watching a man talk to himself" He smiled, falsifying good will. Interest. He wasn't a rude boy, he simply didn't care.
Call him selfish.
No words whispered in his ears telling him what to do this time. Whatever the strange gift had decided to give him had evaporated for the time being. Where ever Devoid had vanished too her voice would not show him how to dance the troubled annoying dance of social interaction. Paradox snorted, mumbling to himself as he watched the other waiting to see if she were in fact a danger. He was perfectly capable of manipulating the situation however he wished, but that he had been told was not dancing properly.
"May I ask your name, stranger?" The brown head tilted, eyes sharp and watching. The transfer of names always seemed to calm harsh meetings. Feeling general peaceable the boy stretched away from the threat of a fight. However far off it was he would rather not due battle with a beast that held such regal stature. Alphas where always alpha for a reason. "I am called Paradox, if you wish to know." Or care to do so. The man in question tilted his head, ears flicking back for a moment before pulling forward again.

There was a part of her that screamed for her to run away. When turned and smirked at her, it took all her inner strength not to snarl and back away. It confused her, and Nalia definitely did not enjoy being confused. The other wolf hadn't even done anything except for smile and respond to her question, why did she feel like she should bolt? And there was her pride factor. Nalia refused to show fear to anyone except perhaps Amorin. And that was rare in and of itself.
But she had no reason to fear the male - in fact, he had done nothing wrong. She acknowledged the slight tip of the head with one of her own. She didn't think he knew who she was, which was perfectly fine with her, though the fact that he recognized she was high ranked soothed her a bit. She didn't think he was going to attack her - not now, at least.
Nalia gave him an easy smile. "What can one do when one happens to overhear things? It is not as if I can shut off my hearing." Her words were almost cheerful, though her gaze was flat and careful. It was the truth, partially. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop, as she had more pride than that. She had been wandering around when she spotted the male, and the curiosity that hadn't left even though she was an adult led her to watch him. But now that she had heard him, there was no way she wasn't going to say anything. Nalia wasn't even going to bring it up until he did, and the words were flippant, as if she honestly didn't care. The Alphess didn't show any outward shows of unease, but she definitely was beginning to regret coming here on this day.
The wolf introduced himself next, and she dipped her head slightly in greeting. "I would say it is a pleasure to meet you, Paradox, but I am not sure of that." Typical blunt Nalia, never mincing words. Nalia rarely told a falsehood, even to the enemy. If this wolf was indeed the enemy. Nalia shrugged that thought off. "I am called Nalia." Nalia didn't share that she was the Alphess of a nearby pack - no, she would wait. Caution never hurt anyone, after all.

There Is Something Very Damaged About You Paradox tilted his head in response, eyes flashing with intense glee. So she had decided to play along? "That is true" He didn't agree with her at all. The offhand response was a twist to his own thoughts. Animals shut off their hearing all the time, or at least manipulated it. Selective hearing and what not. His smile twisted slightly, arching into something crueler before pulling back into something less inauspicious. "But you could always deny it" he chuckled, settling again. Most other animals would have denied hearing anything, but she seemed to not care. He shrugged, interested despite himself.
Odd the day when one found a creature willing to look at madness.
The man blinked, winter blue eyes slightly shocked at her next words. Fighting off the intense urge to laugh the man grinned, venom in his eyes. Promises and memories. Murders pulled off in the brightest of lights and the dankest of dark's. Could she see the dried blood clipped to the roots of his pelt? Or perhaps smell it on his breath. Whatever the reason she seemed uneasy and rightfully so. No animal should be comfortable in the presence of a cannibal. His emotions jumped about, toying at violent amusement and cruel annoyance within moment of each other.
"But it has been a pleasure to meet you, Nalia" he spoke as if slightly hurt by her bluntness, though amusement played at its edges. It had indeed been a pleasure. It had brought about an interesting line of conversation with the female. His eyes found stiffness in her stance, and with a flick he locked his eyes on hers. A challenge however light the stare was. The girl was a puzzle, who would be figured out before he let her leave. Or at least become a known quantity to the lands. Paradox liked to have hand holds, little things he could catch a person with. He wouldn't allow her to vanish until he had found some for her own spirit.
Head tilted to the side the man gave her a quizzical look. "May I ask the reason behind your coming up here, Nalia?" The question came from his own vile intentions. He had come up here for a particularly nasty reason and found it hard to think that anyone would come up to such a hard edged place for anything but. The man he had been rooting about for had not been here, and that particular ire pulsed in his head again as he thought it. Why couldn't the pawns be where he set them? Those stupid little things so loved moving when he turned his back. Next time he'd be sure to nail him to the floor, at least he'd get some fore-play from that demise. But then it was probably wrong of him to consider such things in the presence of a lady.

Nalia snorted. “I could, of course, deny it. But what’s the point? You know I heard, I know I heard, so what’s the use in pretending that we both didn’t? It’s foolish.” Nalia didn’t see any reason to pretend that what she had heard or seen wasn’t actually there. That would be stupid. One of the things Nalia hated most was stupidity, especially when one could use common sense. What was the point in lying to ones self? Nalia snorted again, very un-ladylike but what did she care? Paradox could judge her all he wanted; she didn’t care to know his opinion.
The black she-wolf leaped down from her perch, and although she definitely didn’t want to go anywhere near Paradox, she did anyway. She halted a couple feet from him, blue eyes assessing, but she still didn’t show anything but polite curiosity. Despite her flippant attitude - or many because of it - she was intrigued by this wolf. She had meant what she said before - he was an odd one. Nalia hated mysteries, and she was determined to figure Paradox out.
But would she regret it?
The amusement coming from him was slightly creepy, although she didn’t let it show on her face. The Alphess raised one eyebrow at him when he said it was a pleasure to meet her, and acted all hurt. Yeah. Right. “You don’t even know me, neighbour Paradox. How do you know if it is a pleasure of not? For all you know, I could be a murderer, and you my next victim.” Of course that wasn’t the truth, Nalia was no cold-blooded murderess. But the way she said it, cold, detached, she could’ve been.
Nalia shrugged. “Of course you may ask. Whether or not I’ll answer is the question.” Nalia normally wasn’t so rude to people she had just met. But the shadowy wolf did not like Paradox, though she made an effort not to show that. She took her eyes off of him for a moment to gage her surroundings. All was peaceful, quiet. So far nothing had happened. And maybe nothing would… But that might be too much to hope for.

There Is Something Very Damaged About You
The black fronted man clucked his tongue at her words, not at all impressed by her own annoyance. Icy blue eyes narrowed to slits. Foolish was it? How rude of her. The bluntness was annoying, and he sighed the sound gruff in his throat. He wanted to spit at her. Others weren't allowed to be blunt, only he was allowed to do that. Lips twisted into a parody of a smile, Paradox stared through his mask at the woman. "The point is strategy and manipulation, things you apparently can't grasp" Why yes he had just called her stupid.
Flinching backward at her sudden motion Paradox edged away from the approaching female. Personal bubble invader much? His ears twitched back before pulling forward again. That was aggressive behavior, yet another challenge but he guessed it would go unchecked by the woman just as the first had. Pulling his face up into some semblance of dusty amusement the boy tipped away from her too close form.
Her words were too much though, and something of the true monster broke free. paradox ducked his head, brown ears hovering over black face. The vile smile stretched across his face was so tight it burned the muscle. Insanity wove itself a happy tune in the grin, and in its doing so unraveled what thoughts where in his skull. "I could be the same, girly. Yet you are unafraid." Oh but that was an indirect lie. He was the same. No, he was a murderer. A cannibal. And she in her sudden curiosity looked almost tasty.
Hooded blue eyes glared up with vicious amusement. "I know because I can see it" He mused cryptically, looking up fully not even trying to hide the expression on his face. The thin angular head turned, searching. There she was, her misted over form crept at the edges, dead but moving. His smile grew warmer for a moment before icing over once again. "But Nalia" he whined, tail curling. "You didn't answer."
