"Hail speaks." | Hail thinks. | Hail does.
The wind blew in this area, Hail noticed with an odd sense of mirth. When the wind blew, it gave her a sense of freedom. It was like there was no weight upon her shoulders, no trouble in her soul. So when she approached the land that held the circular stone pile and felt the wind move through her fur as if welcoming her, her sour mood was lifted from her mood.
She had heard rumors about the well. It was said that if you were to let a rock fall into it, you wouldn't hear it hit the ground because it was so far down. Others believed it simply had no bottom at all.
Hail snorted at the rumors. It was all rubbish. No human contraption would be so far down that they couldn't rescue someone if they fell down. Then again, if they were that clumsy to fall down a well, then they weren't needed in the world.
She was in front of the well now, to her fleeting surprise. It was bigger than she thought. Before even thinking about it, she stood on her hind legs, her front legs resting on the side of the wall of stone. She peered down into the depths of the well, darkness swallowing up any light presence in the early morning of day.
It was entrancing, she realized. The more she stared at it, the more it felt like she was being pulled in. She just wanted to see so badly the ground of the floor.
With a sigh building its way through her throat, she moved off of the well. It was too dark for her tastes. Though she liked the moon and the night it brought with it, there was such a thing of too much darkness.

Many things had crossed Bristol's mind that day but the most interesting was the rumor of the deep wishing well. A little bird had told him that if one fell in, then they would never hit the bottom, simply fall forever. Now falling wasn't a problem for Bristol since he was able to shapeshift into a hawk whenever he wanted but still, one did wonder what lay down in the depths of the man made contraption. Trotting carelessly through the undergrowth, his black nose raised to the sky as he scented the air once more, making sure he was still heading in the right direction which, of course, he was. Bristol rarely got lost and his power was always there to get him out of tight spots. A soft breeze brushed past Bristol, blowing through his golden orange tinted fur and with it came the scent of a female wolf, a stranger. Slowing his pace a bit, Bristol's large paws became aware of where they were stepping, making sure to avoid any debris that might make a sound, hinting at his arrive. It wasn't long before he came to the small clearing that surrounded the well and in plain sight stood the other wolf he had scented from earlier. Tilting his head to one side a bit, a habit he had always had since he was a pup, Bristol let his light blue eyes scan the female for a moment before stepping into the clearing, letting his arrival become known. "So. Did you throw a rock down it yet?" he questioned the female simply as his large paws carried him towards the well with a certain swagger he always seemed to have when he was in the presence of others, especially females. A sly smirk was on the golden male's face as he glanced at the well for moment before turning back to her, his posture relaxed and unthreatening.

"Hail speaks." | Hail thinks. | Hail does.
Hail, mind messy, pictured the moon, its glow drenching the world in pale light. Stars danced behind it, the dark background illuminating the sphere more. It was beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than--
A scent itched at her nose. It smelt of male, pure and musky. Before she could even turn to face the male, his voice rang out. "So. Did you throw a rock down it yet?"
Her face, already serene, needed no fixing in the company of the male. Her icy eyes glanced toward him, her body doing little to turn to him fully. She took in his cream and tan colored fur quickly, his eyes similar to hers in hue.
"Why would I do that?" she asked, "It's pointless."
Hail turned fully to the male then. Though he took a relaxed approach to their conversation, she wasn't one to keep her guard down. Her mother had drilled it into her enough to make it like a second nature. It was like blinking for her.
"Besides, it's just some human structure. Nothing special."
She moved now, making to walk past him. She walked, steps light, careful of not disturbing any object from its place. Short grass tickled the pads of her paws, but she paid no mind to it. Grass was a simple luxury when lying down, but it wasn't something she loved. Not like the moon.
It then hit her. Why was she socializing with this wolf? It wasn't like her, she knew of herself being the type to shy away from conversations. But... it felt right to her.
Perhaps I'm too lonely for my own good, she mused. And where the hell am I going?

Bristol shrugged in reply to her words, making his way casually closer to the well until he too stood up on his hind legs, rising to his full height and letting his large paws rest on top of the well walls which were rather tall. His ears flicked back towards her, always conscious of where she was, he wouldn't put it past a female to be hostile and attack him. One could never be to careful. "You can't say you aren't curious to see if the rumors are true." he answered, his smirk becoming more apparent on his face as he glanced over his shoulder at her with his light blue eyes before turning back to look down into the darkness of the well. The mystery of it all was quite intriguing to Bristol and he tilted his head a bit as he continued to stare down into the blackness. After a moment of silence, Bristol flicked his paw, knocking a decent sized rock down into the depths of the well. One ear flicked back towards the female while the other turned towards the well, listening to the rock hit the sides of the well and continued to clink further and further down until the sound died away. Hmmm. Deeper than he thought it would have been. Finally bored of the mysterious well that somehow didn't seem so mysterious anymore, Bristol dropped back down to all fours before turning his body back towards the female, his expression casual as he glanced over at her. "I'm Bristol by the way." he introduced simply, not asking for her name in return. He knew that he personally hated when other wolves asked him questions. If he wanted them to know things about him then he would volunteer the information himself. They didn't have to go sticking their nose into his business. So he ended his statement there, letting her decide what information to share with him.

"Hail speaks." | Hail thinks. | Hail does.
Hail's ears perked as she heard the male stand on his hind legs, front paws resting on the well. She turned back to look at him, slightly wary that he was looking back at her. "You can't say you aren't curious to see if the rumors are true."
"Perhaps," she said, watching as he turned back to the well and knocked a rock into it. Her ears pointed his way, intent on finding any sound. She heard several sounds from it, but heard nothing more.
So maybe it is deeper than I thought, she thought with a curious gleam in her eyes.
Perhaps it was the wind that blew over them again that got her thinking. Why was she staying here? Why did she talk with this guy? Why did the wind make her feel good? And then a smaller, more uncomfortable thought came to mind. Why did her father have to be a power hungry wolf and leave her? It wasn't like she couldn't take care of herself, but their little band of family, the comfort she felt in their group, it was gone. She missed her family. It was like--
"I'm Bristol by the way," the male, no Bristol, said, breaking Hail out of her thoughts.
She felt his stare, but didn't do much to face him. She had stopped walking though, she realized, most likely to listen to him.
"And I'm Hail," she gave in return, "I'm surprised you're here. I would think a male like yourself would be doing something more proactive than pushing a rock into a human thing."

A soft chuckle escaped the muzzle of the orange tinted male as his light blue eyes flickered from her to their surroundings and then back to her once more. His senses told him that they were the only to wolves in the area. When she spoke her name, he had to admit he was a bit surprised as he had taken her for a wolf that kept to themselves. Even her speaking with him this long was a surprise within itself but he wasn't one to judge another since he was far from perfect himself. "I'm a wolf of simple pleasures." he answered, taking a couple of steps away from the well which meant closer to her. He was careful not to crowd her though and instead planted his hind end on the ground a few feet away from her, his muscles relaxed as he watched her curiously. His usual smirk remained on his face as he studied her for a moment longer before he spoke once more. "What about you? What brings a lovely she wolf such as yourself to a boring place like this?" he asked her, tilting his head to the side a bit, as was his habit. He had to admit, she was quite an interesting specimen and he would say he hadn't met a female like her but he hadn't met many females recently anyways so that would probably be an inaccurate assumption. No matter, she was still keeping him interesting, for now at least.

"Hail speaks." | Hail thinks. | Hail does.
"Is that so?" Hail murmured, noticing him relaxing even further. What is he getting at with his relaxation around me?
Her tail swayed to the side for a second, it's brown and fiery color holding vague interest in her own eyes. She remained standing, but had turned to face Bristol fully again. Though he had a similar shape to the males she had been around, Bristol appeared to be like her in certain coloring. Though his fur went towards a more sandy hue, it still reflected orange in its tips. It was an odd coloring, she noted. Cream, sand, and orange.
"What about you? What brings a lovely she wolf such as yourself to a boring place like this?" He had said, his head tilting to the side in a not unattractive way.
Lovely? Me? she thought brokenly, confusion lacing throughout her inner voice. Though her thoughts were a mess her face remained neutral, if not a tad bewildered.
"I," she started before steadying her scrambled mess of a mind, "came here for reasons similar to yours."
Thinking she had spent enough time socializing for the next week, she began to walk away from the male. He was very odd. She had never been called lovely before, less by any male. Neither had she met one who so openly relaxed around her. For all he knew, she could have been a ruthless murderer who had found her next victim. It was a reckless move by him, but she wasn't going to complain.
Besides, if she searched deep inside her soul she felt a certain glee that she wasn't alone. It wasn't everyday she chose to socialize with something, let alone a wolf. Though she wished for more interaction, she would not let herself ask for company. No, that would be too much. It wasn't like her. It was like her to be strong willed, quiet yet kind, not social, bewildered, and almost uncertain.

He didn't completely block her way because he didn't want her to think that he was going to attack her or something and she seemed a bit on edge as it was. A smile was still on his face and his posture was calm as he spoke to her, hoping she would stay because it had been awhile since he had decent company.
"Wait, why are you leaving?" he asked her, confusion and a bit of sadness in his eyes as he looked at her with his light blue eyes. Being a loner was defintely a lonely life, especially for a wolf as socialiable as Bristol but he had choosen that life and now he had to live with it. But running into wolves and making new friends was always a welcoming thought when one could go days on end without seeing or even scenting another wolf..

"Hail speaks." | Hail thinks. | Hail does.
Why am I leaving...? Bristol's question rang throughout Hail's mind. Wasn't it obvious? Did he not understand her solitary nature? She was uncomfortable as it was with his comment of her being lovely, and she was unprepared with his boldness.
She stared at him for a moment lost in thought and unsure what to say. "I'm not use to being in the company of others," she said lamely.
A part of her lurched at the bit of sadness in Bristol's eyes. Why was he sad? Did he not the life of a loner? If so, then why did he choose such a path? So many questions she wished to ask floated in her mind, driving her to ask: "Why are you sad?"
If she were honest with herself, she could say she was happy that such an... outgoing wolf wanted to talk to her, a quiet, good-for-nothing solitary wolf. She had met other wolves who were outgoing like him, but had none had really stopped her from leaving.
In reality, she was inexperienced with emotions. They were always stored in the basement of her mind, only certain ones leaking from their cage on her acceptance. It didn't mean she couldn't feel--she felt many things sometimes, but after being drilled into the ground from her parents with the caution and heartlessness she should have, she had little interaction with her emotions. It was unnatural.

When she asked him why he was sad he was a bit surprised at her straight forward question but answered it none the less.
"I was hoping you would stay for a bit. It's been awhile since I have come across another wolf. But if you wish to leave, I don't want to stand in your way." he answered, stepping back a step so that she could easily get past him and be on her way if that was what she wanted. Though he did hope that she wouldn't leave him all alone right now. He had been traveling for awhile and was finding that he wanted some company. The life of a loner was a good one but it could be dangerous and lonely at the same time.
Though he wasn't sure if he had what it took to be a part of a pack, maybe one day he would find out but not today. Today he was just hoping to make a new friend perhaps. It was always good to have more friends than enemies because you never knew when you would be in trouble and need someone's help.
