Silvery strands flopped to and fro as the wind combed through his shaded fur. Red eyes squinted shut against the light of the sun, Felkin carried on his face a look of calm serenity. Sun basking may seem like a fairly sedentary activity for the active and hyper wolf, but he enjoyed his little quiet pleasures now and then. Taking in a deep breath, Felkin filled his brain with the scent patterns of everything around him, mapping the forest in his minds eye. His vision was filled with greens and brown as his lids opened to slits, admitting light into them and causing him to blink away the stars he now saw. Very slowly, Felkin shook out his ruff, settling the fur that had flipped over upon itself.
This forest of eternal summer suited him well, and he was sad it was not a part of Martyr lands. He had been wondering if perhaps he should stop exploring outside of Nalia and Amorins territory, as if anything happened to him out here his pack may not be able to help him. In the back of his mind, he remembered the terror of waking up with a wolf on top of him, biting the back of his neck and snarling. Coughing, he pushed the memory away, shoving it into the depths of his psyche. Looking around, he felt his mood fall lightly. The only thing that would make this gorgeous day better was some good company. Felkin loved company, the presence of other wolves made him feel warm inside.

Luna had to admit that of all the territories she had been to, this one was one of her favorites. The sun was always warm here and she loved the sun, especially on a day like today. She had been traveling for most of the day and could definitely use a break. Her light blue eyes scanned the territory while her ears flicked forward and backward as she checked to see if she was alone. An unfamiliar scent hit her nose and she stopped for a moment and sniffed the air before locating the source of the scent easily. It was another wolf that she hadn't met before. He was laying in the sun and looked to be asleep almost but then she saw him move and guessed he was still awake.
Not wanting to frighten him and make him attack her or anything, Luna took a couple of steps towards him before clearing her throat and speaking.
"Excuse me sir, do you mind if I join you?" she called carefully to him, unsure if his was a friend or a foe. He didn't seem to threatening right now but it was better to be safe than sorry. And a she wolf traveling on her own had to be extra careful, especially around males she didn't know.

Reddish eyes trailed into the sky above, gazing at its bluey depths from between the boughs of the trees overhanging his resting spot. This place was so.. peaceful. He felt if he kept quiet enough, he could maybe even hear the trees growing around him. As he took another deep breath, he scented another wolf, and his tail flopped against the ground with happiness for a moment. Perhaps there was someone approaching whom he could talk to! He sniffed delightedly as he swung his head from side to side, locating the source and direction of the smell, then waited expectantly as a brilliantly white form began to pad towards him.
As she cleared her throat and spoke out loud, his tail wacked the earth several more times, and he made a funny motion with his body, as if he was going to jump to his feet and bounce around her for a minute or two. Instead he kept his position lying down, but strained his neck forwards slightly. “Of course I don’t mind!” He said a little too enthusiastically, then gave her one of his dazzling smile and chuckled to himself. “Im sorry, I have been quite bored just lying here. My name is Felkin, m’Lady.” He dipped his head to her, his eyes dancing with joy the whole while through his formal greeting. He looked up at her, avoiding a direct eye-to-eye contact as usual, but looked over her form. He was mystified by a coat so white, and grinned with how she almost seemed alight as the sun reflected off of her. Her eyes were a fantastic blue, stark in reference to her coat. He imagined she was probably the kind of wolfess males got all ‘silly’ about, with her fine features and shining coat. In the back of his mind he wondered about why such a wolfess would be out alone and approaching him of all wolves, but his optimistic conscience was far too happy at the prospect of making a friend to worry about such trivial matters. Luna smiled when the male wolf invited her to come join him. She already liked him and she had just met him. He was bubbly and friendly and that was always a major plus in her book. She padded over to his side and stretched before laying down next to him, the sun shining on her pure white coat felt wonderful as she turned her body so she was facing him. When he introduced himself to her she smiled once more and dipped her head a bit in greeting before speaking her own name.
"My name is Luna. Thank you for letting me join you. It really is a beautiful place." she responded as her light blue eyes gazed around them at the beautiful and colorful forest that surrounded him. She couldn't help but feel happy, especially now that she had some good company. At least he seemed like good company. Luna was still a bit cautious though. She was still a female loner and she hadn't survived on her own this long by befriending every wolf she came across. But lately she had been fortunate enough to come across very nice wolves. First Taboo and now Felkin.

Felkin wiggled over to make room for the diamond wolfess as she lay down beside him. His ears twitched as she spoke again, picking up the cues of her voice. He offered her another of his bright smiles, and nodded enthusiastically at her worlds. “It really is. In the Martyr lands, everything is so much colder then here. Its nice to escape for a bit of heat and sunshine now and then, especially on a day as gorgeous as today.” He turned and looked into her face, pausing a moment to collect his thoughts before he spoke. “What about you, Luna?’ He said, tasting her name on his tongue. “Where to you call home?” He didn’t personally consider this to be a personal question. Taking one single sniff of her delicate aroma, he could tell she was neither Martyr nor Canopus.
A movement beside him caught his attention, and he swung his nose around to look at a large rodent bounced from the underbrush and began cleaning itself on a fallen log. The small animal was only a few feet from the two of them, and Felkin grinned at it, stretching his nose towards it. “Look at that.’ He said, his tail wagging furiously as he gazed at the creature. “Look how close it is.” The rodent stopped cleaning to look at Felkin a moment, before giving an affronted squeak and continuing on its way. Felkin through his head back and laughed loudly, shaking his head as he chuckled. For some reason, the wildlife here wasn’t as afraid of the large canines as back.. home. So strange of him to already be thinking of the upper realm as home. Subconsciously he looked towards the south, and his heart gave a pang for his old life.

When Felkin spoke, she immediately realized that he must be part of the Martyr pack which she had heard about from traveling around so much. When he asked her where she called home she was about to speak her answer when a rodent emerged and Felkin stretched his nose out towards it. Luna watched in wonder as the male wolf got incredibly close to the rat before it scurried along on it's way. It would have been extremely easy to snatch up the small prey and yet it acted like there was absolutely no danger being that close to two full grown wolves.
A laugh bubbled up from Luna as well as she laughed at the strange sighting along with Felkin. It was quite an odd sight indeed.
"I am a loner. I don't really have anywhere to call home yet. Right now I simply travel around and do what I wish which can be a good life at times but it can also be lonely and dangerous." she replied, shrugging as if the threat of dying every day was no big deal. Of course all creatures had that threat but for her it was even more extreme because she was a female on her own. She had to be very careful about where she went and where she stayed or else her life could be over in the blink of an eye.

Felkin was still smiling, thinking of the rat and looking off to the south as she spoke. He looked into her face again as she spoke, nodding encouragingly at her as she spoke. He raised his eyebrows as she spoke so flippantly of death and danger, a smile playing at his lips and fully formed in his eyes. “M’lady seems to laugh in the face of danger.” He said, a slight air of teasing in his voice, and he suddenly reached forward to poke her playfully on the shoulder with his nose. Grinning at her, his whole body wiggled slightly and his tail whapped once more.
Looking off in the distance again, he gave a big sigh, his smile turning from one of playfulness to a kind of serenity. “I lived that way for two months.” He told her. He was never the kind of wolf who felt the need to keep his whole life secret from everyone he met. What lessons he had learned were lessons to share with anyone who would benefit from them. “I left.. my homelands a few months ago. I travelled north for several months, and finally came upon lady Nalias border just as the deep cold started to threaten the tepid air.” His eyes slid out of focus as he remembered his months of loneliness. “Perhaps there are wolves on this planet who enjoy being alone.” He said, a rush of emotion making his tones thick and warm. “But it is not for me. Unlike the cunning fox or the wry coyote.” He said, turning to grin down at her warmly. “I am a packwolf at heart. I am meant to be around others. Just look at my ability, or ‘power’ as I have heard the wolves here call it.”

A genuine smile crossed Luna's face as she saw the other male smile and seem so carefree. She wished she could be like that but her mind was always filled with worries and concerns and thoughts. It seemed like she could never get away from the troubles of her life though she couldn't complain because she guessed there were wolves out there that had it worse off than she did.
"Yeah I like the life of a loner but it has been so long since I have had a pack that I find myself starting to wonder whether a pack life really would be a good choice for me. I do find myself being lonely a lot." she answered, her eyes staring off for a moment as she remembered the nights she had where she couldn't sleep in fear that something was after her. It was a hard life being a loner and she was starting to think it was time for her to give it up and join a pack after all. When he mentioned his power, she refocused her gaze on him with a confused look on her face. She wouldn't have thought he had any powers because the other wolves she had met that had powers had a slightly different look that made them stick out.
"What is your power?" she asked him, tilting her head to the side a bit. She too had a power but she didn't look like she did so she couldn't talk.

Felkin was truly blessed to see the world through his own rose-coloured glasses. Although some might take him to be naive, he was no dummy, and his optimistic outlook on the world could keep him above despair when everything seemed to be going wrong. It was not always a bad thing to see the silver lining on lifes everyday troubles. “I find that we often wish for the opposite of what we have.” He said, his voice gaining depth with his statement. He had not yet taken his eyes off her face, and his smile was warm and friendly. “When we are around others, we can find ourselves annoyed or wishing for some time to think.’ He chuckled to himself, knowing he often gave others that feeling. “And yet when we are alone in this world, we wish for nothing more than the closeness of another.” He pressed his muzzle into the side of her neck to emphasize his point, breathing in her scent and whapping his tail against the ground once more.
His ears flicked as he heard her question, and he pulled his head back to look out into the distance. “I am an augmenter.” He said, the corners of his mouth pulling up with amusement at the word. It had been how his father had described his powers when he had been ushering Felkin into greater rank and status. “Essentially, thats a pretty way of saying I increase the powers of those in close proximity to me.” He looked down at her through the corner of his eyes, as if hinting at something. He knew she had a power. She had the same electricity around her he had noticed around Nalia, which separated the astonishing wolves of this area with regular ones. What can you do, wolfess of the diamond-pelt?

Luna nodded in agreement with his statement. It was true that you long for the things you don't have but when you have them you long for something else. When his nose pressed into the side of her neck a smile made it's way across her face and she turned her head to look at him, her white ears pricked towards him as she listened to him explain his power. When he finished explaining his power, curiousity began to make it's way into her body, her mind subconciously reaching back towards her powers, wanting to try it and see what would happen if she used her powers this close to him.
Finally the curiousity got the better of her and she let her mind find her powers and concentrating, she pictured her coat being different colors like she normally would and when she finally opened her eyes, she was looking up at Felkin. Confused, Luna glanced around and saw that she had shrunk into a small white fox. Her light blue eyes were full of confusion as she looked at her smaller body and then glanced back up at Felkin, confusion still clear on her face.
"What just happened? Why am I a fox?" she asked him, tilting her head to one side as she considered how this could be possible. Surely Felkin's powers weren't enough to make her a full shifter and not just a color shifter but she wasn't sure. She had never met an augmenter before.

As he watched her concentrate, he felt an excitement go up in his mind. He loved learning about the powers that other creatures had, and about how he affected them. As she closed her eyes, he felt the electrical pulse in the air he had begun to recognise as ‘magic’ or whatever it was that caused the strange abilities in wolves, and his heart began to beat faster, his tail once again flopping against the ground in excitement. He watched as she shrank before him, her muzzle becoming finer, her eyes wider. Her tail grew thicker and fluffier, even fluffier then his own now, and before his eyes she became an arctic fox, lying beside him and blinking up at him. He opened his mouth, about to tell her that was amazing and he had heard of shape shifters but had never met one, when he heard her question.
He froze, his mouth have open, his tongue twitching from unused words. “Uhhhhh..” He said, not sure how to answer her. “I am guessing youa re a fox because you transformed into one.” He said slowly, his smile lopsided and bemused now. “Should you.. well, not be a fox?” He said weekly, cocking his head to one side. He had never actually stunned someone with the changes in their powers before, and he wasn’t really sure how to react. Did she normally turn into something else? Maybe she normally just had fox-like attributes? He started to shift uncomfortably, worrying now with what he had done.

Luna was still extremely confused at how it was she had become a fox. She sort of looked like an artic fox, in a way and she could be pretty sneaky and sly when she wanted to but she had never completely shifted into another animal before. At least she wasn't something that a wolf would normally eat. And she did have a way to protect herself even in the form of an artic fox she had claws and teeth. Looking down at her little paws once more before gazing back up at him with her light blue eyes she couldn't help but laugh a bit.
"No, no. It's just normally I can only shift the colors of my coat, eyes, tail and stuff like that. I've never been able to completely shift into another animal before." she answered, somewhat proud of herself now. Little Luna sat upright, puffing out her fluffy white chest and smiling up at Felkin with her little white fox teeth.
So this is what it felt like to be able to shift into a completely different animal. It was a new feeling to her and she couldn't help but wonder how long it would last or if she could change back whenever she wanted.

Felkin watched Luna discover her new form, his mind ablaze. Shifting was all in the same category, he guessed, though this was quite strange. He had not yet caused such a strange reaction in a powered wolf before, and was not sure what to think of it. “Huh.” He said, at a loss for words. So usually only colours on the little white fox-err-wolf were able to change. He smiled when she laughed, glad that the shock had not upset her. “Well, it’s certainly strange, but you make quite a pretty fox. I am sure you will find some good use for your new form.” He said, his tail hitting the ground again. He was beginning to reach his muzzle down to poke her little shoulder, when she puffed her chest out and looked the part of her new body.
Felkin through his head back and laughed into the sky, his whole body rocking with the motion. He shook his head, chuckling the while why he regained his composure. “That was adorable.” He said to her, his eyes dancing and a huge grin on his face. He was really beginning to like Luna. Her carefree attitude and generally positive attitude warmed his heart and reminded him of good times from his past. She was the kind of wolf he would have been friends with back int he southern lands, and he felt very lucky to have met her.

It felt good to bring joy to someone and make them laugh. It had been so long since she had just been able to have fun and relax and she found that with Felkin she could do just that. When he said her display was adorable she grinned once more before giving a dramatic box in front of him and then returning to all fours, sitting on her hind end as her white fluffy tail gently swept out behind her.
"Why thank you." she replied, once she had finished her bow. Her light blue eyes shone as she smiled a bit once more. When he told her that she would find some good use out of her new form her smile fell a bit. Would she be able to shift completely when she wasn't this close to him? Could she access this new power anytime she wanted? None of this she was sure but she was guessing not.
"I suppose, though it's a shame that this power will only be present when I am near you. Not that I mind being near you, I just mean, that uh. . ." she stammered, suddenly realizing her first statement could have come off in a rude way. She tried to recover but failed miserably and finally just slumped down once more, her smile fading.

His own heart warmed as he watched her joy. He took great pride in making other wolves comfortable, offering a place for others to be themselves, as he believed being anyone else was an insult to your own soul. He dipped his muzzle in response to her bow, his eyes dancing with laughter. Concern flashed across his silvery face as he watched her smile fade. Why did she suddenly look so forelorn? As she spoke, he realized that she had succumbed to one of the downfalls of his powers. He could be like a drug for some wolves, who could not stand their regular powers when he was not around them. He reached down and touched his muzzle to her little furry shoulder, nuzzling her lightly.
He laughed again as she stammered her excuse, shaking his head and grinning at her. “No offence taken as there was no offence meant, dear Luna.” He said, his voice rhythmic and full of tune. “It is what I see to be my greatest downfall that I cannot change the powers of another wolf for good. I sometime feel like such a tease.” His eyes danced at these words, his tail thumping the ground a few times to accent them. “It is true that you cannot be by my side at all times.” He was not aware of the many ways his last words could be taken, as though Felkin was many, many thinks, naive was definitely one of them. He poked her with his muzzle again, an almost-purr like noise rumbling in his chest. “Do not despair, Luna. You have the most beautiful smile. I would like to be able to see it always.”
